Shannon Dale Jenkins

Shannon Dale Jenkins, 61, of Valdosta, died on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Clinch Healthcare following a lengthy illness. She was born in Atlanta on January 18, 1955 to the late Charles and Sara Mewbourne Garrison. She served her country honorably and retired from the United States Air Force. Shannon was one of the first female security police officers stationed at Moody Air Force Base. She had also served as the Personnel and Program Director for the Flint River Council with the Girl Scouts of America. Shannon was also active as a volunteer and assistant for the Azalea Festival and with the Alzheimer's Caregiver Time Out (ACTO). She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Anthony Jenkins of Valdosta; a daughter, Christina Jenkins also of Valdosta; a step-son, Gary Jenkins of Santa Monica, California; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kerry and Bob Hudson of Valdosta, Malin and Bobby Selman of Birmingham, Alabama, and Erin Russell of Birmingham; her step-mother, Virginia Garrison of Birmingham; two step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug and Meredith Davis of Birmingham, Van and Kim Hendricks of Valdosta, and Lajeana Chitty of Birmingham; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Howard Hendricks.

Services for Shannon Dale Jenkins will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. Frank Kinast, Jr. officiating.
