Sean M. Jenkins, 47, of Athens, formerly of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 5, 1969, in Casper, WY, he was the son of James Lee and Sylvia (Redding) Jenkins. After graduating from Lowndes County High School in 1987, he attended Valdosta State University. Sean worked as a sound engineer for the 40 Watt Club in Athens, which he loved tremendously. He had a deep passion for music, loved drinking coffee and cooking. He also loved spending time with his family and friends especially during the holidays. His kindness and generosity touched everyone he had ever met and will be missed dearly.
Sean is survived by his father; James L. (Pat) Jenkins of Castalian Springs, Tennessee and his loving mother Sylvia Jenkins of Valdosta; his sister and best friend, Melissa D. (Jack) Myers of Valdosta; a brother, Chris (Sherri) Jenkins of Centennial, CO; grandmother, Margaret Redding of Valdosta; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He is also survived by his dear friend, Chris Bartenfeld of Athens, GA.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Brooks H. Redding, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Florence Jenkins; and his beloved pit bull Sophie, whom also lost her battle with cancer in August.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
