Seabron Craven, 81, of Valdosta, GA passed away at home on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from a lengthy illness surrounded by family. He was born in Baxley, Georgia on November 2, 1940 to the late Henry Clarence (H.C.) Craven and Peggy Simpson Craven. Seabron graduated from Valdosta High School in 1959. Following high school, he entered the Navy where he served four years aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Intrepid. He was married to Glynis Ruth Croft Craven on October 15, 1966. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, and two sons Zane Craven (Laine) and Henry Bert Craven. Seabron cherished his three granddaughters Caroline Craven Highsmith (Holden), Sarah Craven Harrell (Jordan) and Kate Elizabeth Craven. He was also survived by numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. Seabron was preceded in death by three brothers Ronnie Craven of Baxley, Georgia, Carroll Craven of Nashville, Georgia, and Larry Craven of Valdosta, Georgia.
Seabron was a dedicated member of Morningside Baptist Church for 45 years. He retired from Georgia Power Company after 38 years of service. He spent many years volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club coaching numerous sports and children. He was also a supporter of Lowndes High School football where he served as a leader in the Touchdown Club. Seabron’s love for laughter was contagious and will be greatly missed.
The funeral for Seabron will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Morningside Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Robertson will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Carson McLane Funeral Home from 5 until 7 pm on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Morningside Baptist church or Bethany Hospice.
