Sarah Swindell Lincoln

October 11, 1924 — November 12, 2005

SARAH SWINDELL LINCOLN, 81, of Valdosta passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at her residence in Langdale Place. She was born October 11, 1924 in Long County, Georgia, the fifth child of the late Eliza Mabel Parker and Erwin Daniel Swindell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Lincoln. Mrs. Lincoln was a resident of Valdosta for 47 years. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving faithfully in the Women In the Church. For many years she and her dear friend and fellow church member, the late Rosa Strickland, ministered together to the elderly and the shut-ins. This became a life long ministry for Sarah Lincoln. She was also a member of the Literary Guild and the Faculty Wives’ Club of Valdosta State College. In 1987 and 1988, after Mr. Lincoln retired from VSC, the Lincolns served in mission work in Mandeville, Jamaica through the Caribbean Missions Board.

Mrs. Lincoln is survived by one daughter and son in law, Sharon and Buddy Coleman of Valdosta, one son and daughter in law, Steve and Kathy Lincoln of Valdosta, one granddaughter, Kelly Coleman Call and her husband, Tom Call of Valdosta, three grandsons, Dr. Will Coleman of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Stephen Lincoln, Jr. and his fiancée, Mary Scott Huguley both of Atlanta and Parker Lincoln of Valdosta, three great grandchildren, Chandler Anne, Sarah Katherine and Coleman Thomas Call, brothers in law and sisters in law, Paul and Tru Lincoln of Monument, Colorado, Tim and Patti Perior of Northridge, California, Ruby Swindell Hutchinson of Jacksonville, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lincoln will be held at 11am, Monday, November 14, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Jones and the Rev. Ken Webb officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 13, 2005 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
