Sarah (Sally) Kramer Sherman, 92 of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Her death occurred due to a brief illness.
Sally's life was characterized by her gentle, caring and serving spirit. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood where she held office as President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary and Chaplin during her years of service. Sally was also very active in her Sunday School Class at her church, Park Avenue United Methodist Church. She was involved in the Parlor Class by serving as President and Corresponding Secretary. She also used her talent of playing the piano to assist when needed. An organization that meant a lot to her was the United Methodist Women where she served as President at Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Sally enjoyed reading, baking, knitting, quilting, gardening and bird watching. Family has always been important to her as she was the oldest of eight children. She had six brothers and one sister. She was born March 29th, 1921 in Whitinsville, Mass..
Survivors include her two sons Paul Sherman, Tim Sherman of Valdosta. Her son-in-law James W. Boyle, her granddaughters Sarah Boyle, Stephanie Boyle all of Valdosta, Allison Veal and Brian Veal of Forest Park, one great-grandson Aaron Veal of Forest Park.
Her sister Marjorie Jensen of Rochester, VT, her brothers Harry Kramer of Franklin, Mass., Robert Kramer of Equinunk, PA, Donald and sister-in-law Donna Kramer of Holliston, MA. Her nieces and nephews Colby, Katrina, Laura, Jennifer, Julie, Brian, Suzanne and their children.
Mrs. Sherman was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Reverend Dr. Goddard Sherman who was a minister in the United Methodist Church , her daughter Jocelyn Boyle, her brothers Francis Kramer, Gordon Kramer, Clarence Kramer, her parents Ida and Gordon Kramer.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Park Avenue United Methodist Church, with Dr. Craig Rikard, Rev. Hale Bishop, and Rev. David Tart officiating, interment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Sherman family will receive visitors at Carson McLane Funeral Home on Saturday evening April 27, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Methodist Women at Park Avenue United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
