Sarah Helen Blanton Blanchard

Sarah Helen Blanton Blanchard, 95, of Valdosta died Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Fellowship Home. She was born in Lowndes County on November 7, 1920 to the late Claude Hartford and Ellie Robinson Blanton and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Blanchard was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in the Joy/Fidelis Sunday School Class. She graduated from Naylor High School where she was captain of the basketball team and attended Georgia State Women's College. Mrs. Blanchard enjoyed fishing with her mother, sewing, cooking and working in her flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Wesley Wayne and Sandra Blanchard, Marcus Weldon and Janice Blanchard all of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Michelle and Chuck Smith, Sloan and Libby Craft, Will and Heather Blanchard, Margaret Ann and Scott Carter; her great grandchildren, Suthern Smith, Brody Smith, Wesley Blanchard and William Blanchard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesley Blanchard; two daughters, Gail Elaine Blanchard and Bobbie Ellen Blanchard; two brothers, Chandler Harris Blanton and Maxwell Cranford Blanton.
Graveside services will be held at 4:30pm, Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Rev. John McGowan officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:30-4:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 200 E.
