Sarah Anne Norman McDonald, 94, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at South Georgia Medical Center due to complications from the Covid-19 Virus. Sarah Anne was born in Valdosta, on September 29, 1925, the daughter of Joseph Curtis Norman and Ruth Prosser Norman. Much of her childhood was spent living in Lake City, Florida with her Aunt Ethel and Uncle Claude Adams, her mother’s sister. She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. She loved flowers and enjoyed working with them. She loved to shop and listen to praise and worship music.
Sarah Anne married Theron Heywood McDonald on July 5, 1942 in Jasper, Florida, while he was on a 3-day pass. They were married for 53 years until his death. Theron and Sarah Anne moved several times while Theron was in Ranger Training with the U.S. Army during WWII. She was active in her church life and worked during the early years of her marriage to help support her family. She was a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church until entering the nursing home where she lived for her last eight years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother to her four daughters and their husbands and children.
Survivors are four daughters and sons in law, Shirley and Larry Price of Albany, Barbara and Roger Meeks, Becky and Ed Minton of Valdosta, Debbie and David Bayless of Hahira; grandchildren, Cathy and Steve Jenkins, Matt and Paige Price, Terry and Christina Godwin, James Godwin, Giles and Angel Godwin, Allison and Jeffrey Jones, Elizabeth Mann, Roger, Jr. and Kristen Meeks, Derry and Nikki Meeks; fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters in law, Charles and Pat Norman of Weslaco, Texas, Jerry and Mary Laura Norman of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Heywood McDonald, brothers and sisters, Ralph Norman, Vivian Colson, Jack Norman, Julian Norman, Mable Meeks, Jimmie Norman.
Private funeral services will be held, and committal will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morningside Building Fund or to the Gideons International.
