Sara Margaret Newbern Peters, 86, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Valdosta on Christmas Day 1935 to the late James Franklin Newbern and Cora Lee Herndon Newbern. Mrs. Peters loved to read especially her Bible and was a great cook, who was well known for her pimiento cheese, chocolate cake and ambrosia. Mrs. Peters retired after 30 plus years from Radiology Associates of Valdosta.
Mrs. Peters was a lifelong member of Bemiss United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Peters is survived by her husband John Knight Peters, of Valdosta; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Stan House, of Valdosta; two granddaughters, Megan and Anthony Tovar, of Ray City, GA, and Katelyn House of Valdosta; and her sister Carolyn Newbern Hill, of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Frank Carlton Newbern.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 2 p.m. at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jerry Hudson officiating.
