Sara Frances Taylor, 80, lifetime resident of Valdosta, passed away following a short illness, on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Lakeland, on October 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Margaret Bramlett Faircloth. Frances was a 1955 graduate of Valdosta High School where she was a member of the Marching Wildcat Band. She married Arvel Lee Taylor, her husband of 55 years, and traveled with him during his years of service in the United States Air Force. An active member of Morningside Baptist Church and the "Young At Heart" seniors group, she enjoyed attending church and loved time spent with family and friends. Frances was a talented cook and seamstress, known throughout the community for her work at Frieda's Sewing Shop and Gilberg's Fabric. She also worked and retired after 15 years of employment at Walmart's fabric department.
Survivors are her sons and daughters in law, Lee G. and Connie Taylor, James R. and Debbie Taylor of Acworth; daughters and sons in law, Beth and Walt Green, Jan and Rick Holmes of Hahira, Sharon and Chris Willis of Acworth; grandchildren, Karen (Elijah) Barnett of Acworth, James Taylor, Jr. of Nebraska, Dolly Taylor of Acworth, Brandi (Klint) Hendley of Lake Park, Amie (Redd) Berrian of Valdosta, Ryan Green of Hahira, Katelyn (Justin) Long of Atlanta, Seth Rountree of Valdosta, Emma Willis of Acworth; great grandchildren, Zachary Steer, Kaden Barnett, Lacy Taylor, Haylee Hendley, Wilder Long; sister, Joanne F. Bass of Valdosta; four special nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a grandson, Benjamin Willis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Wayne Robertson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
