Sandy Holton Folsom, 57, of Hahira passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Fellowship Home in Brooks County. Mrs. Folsom was born on August 17, 1956 in Valdosta to the late Ashley and Dorothy Simpson Holton and lived most of her life in Hahira. She graduated from Valdosta State College and taught school at Hahira Elementary School until her retirement in 2008. Mrs. Folsom was a National Board Certified Teacher and also a Teacher of the Year Award Receipient. She was a member of the Hahira United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Randy Folsom of Hahira, two sons and daughters in law, Allen and Brittany Folsom of Hahira, Matt and Ashley Folsom of Aiken, SC, four grandchildren, Bailey Folsom, Holt Folsom, Tate Folsom and Gage Folsom, her sister, Wanda Fiveash of Valdosta, two brothers and a sister in law, Scott Holton of Savannah, Mark and Terri Holton of Valdosta, father in law, Jesse L. Folsom of Hahira, brother in law, Roger Folsom of Dublin, sister in law and brother in law, Lynne and Buster Johnson of Adel and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother in law, Virginia Folsom.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Hahira United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Morgan, Rev. Ike Jefferson and Rev. Bill Woodson officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home, 401 S. Church St., Hahira, GA 31632. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hahira United Methodist Church, 100 E. Stanfill St., Hahira, GA 31632 or to My Friends House (Alzheimer's Day Program) in care of Valdosta State University, 1500 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31698-0228.
