Sandra Williamson McLeod, 75, of Barney, died on Thursday, October 17, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Born in Barwick on February 18, 1944, daughter of Walter E. Williamson and Mary Elizabeth Herring Williamson. After residing in Valdosta, GA for most of her adult life, Sandra returned to her homeplace of Barney, GA to live out the remaining years of her life. Sandra worked for many years for Dr. Austin in Valdosta as a receptionist and assistant. She was a member of Morven Church of Christ. Prior to her illness, Sandra was an avid bowler for many years, participating in both local and state competitions and associations. Her passions included traveling, especially to the mountains, and doting on and spending time with the loves of her life, her grandchildren.
Survivors are her husband, Albert McLeod; sons, Dr. Michael McLeod of Atlanta, Bryan DeWayne McLeod of Barney; grandchildren, Jesseca McLeod, Dalton McLeod, and Denton McLeod of Barney, and Eli Foster of Tifton. Additional survivors include her brother, Glenn Williamson of Valdosta; sister-in-law, Betty Jane Williamson of Pavo; sisters-in-law Rose Gaskins and Ellen McLeod of Valdosta; brother in law Alton McLeod of Valdosta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Christine McLeod of Valdosta; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her sister Nan Sue Williamson of Barney; brother and sister-in-law JW and Ernestine Williamson of Jacksonville; sister and brother-in-law Frances and Gene Lewis of Baxley; brother Maurice Williamson of Pavo; sister-in-law Peggy Williamson of Valdosta; sister Betty L. Brady of Barney; father-in-law and mother-in-law James Alvin and Annie Jewell McLeod of Valdosta; brothers-in-law Robert McLeod, Allen McLeod, and Lawton Gaskins of Valdosta; sister-in-law Martha Jean Simmons of Valdosta.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Tommy Simpson and Reverend Roger Mays will officiate. Mrs. McLeod will be interred at Campground Cemetery in Morven following the service. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. prior to the services.
