Sandra Lee (Sandy) Yamada, 74, of Hahira, passed away peacefully at home after a brave battle with cancer with her children by her side and surrounded by loved ones Thursday, August 14, 2014. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 28, 1940 to the late Richard and Vera Love. She grew up in Sacramento, CA and graduated from C. K. McClatchy High School. Mrs. Yamada retired from the Sacramento Army Depot. She volunteered at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento and South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Mrs. Yamada is survived by her son, Darren Scott Howell of Hahira, her daughter and son in law, Pamela Joy Stevenson and Douglas James Stevenson II of Hahira, three grandchildren, Kylan Ray Stevenson, Kelsey Lynn Stevenson and Darion Josiah Cano-Howell, her brother in law, Larry Fulp of Cecil, her niece, Robin Harkins and her nephew, Michael Fulp and her great niece, Melody Linder. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Perry Love and Vera Viola Smith Love, her husband, Yasuo Yamada, her infant daughter, Kelly Lynn Howell, her sister, Patricia Fulp.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Ike Jefferson officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the funeral home.
