Sandra L. Goforth

Sandra L. Goforth, 80, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at her home. She was born on November 1, 1944, to the late Carl George Cheek and Sara Cunningham Cheek. Mrs. Goforth grew up in Cordele, Georgia, and she graduated from Crisp County High School where she was active in the Glee Club. She soon started working at the hardware store in Cordele. She married Larry Goforth on February 6, 1964, and followed him during his stint in the US Army. They lived in Illinois briefly following his military career and then moved back to Georgia and settled in Lake Park in the late 1970s. She worked for several years at Lee Office Equipment and for Pruitt Health, retiring in 2009. Gardening, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables, was her favorite pastime. She loved her animals, having many pets over the years. She was also a member of the Roadway Drivers’ Wives Group and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her daughters Laura Goforth of Valdosta and Karla Goforth of Valdosta as well as her niece Cindy Griffin of Baconton, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Goforth and her sister Sara Jean Winfree.

Funeral services are set for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 2 pm in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2 pm. Mrs. Goforth will be buried in Lake Park Cemetery.
