Sammy R. Register

Sammy R. Register, 61, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 3, 1953 in Homerville, a son of Plez and Margaret Hilliard Register. Sammy was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many. He was a true family man in every sense, and loved spending time with his family. A machinist and welder by trade, Sammy was a Jack-of-all-trades; he could fix anything and enjoyed "tinkering" in his shed.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Banaitis and Derek of Thomasville; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam Register, Jr. and Kaci of Warner Robins; three grandchildren, Preston Payne of Owensboro, KY, Owen Banaitis and Dylan Banaitis of Thomasville; his father, Plez Register of Valdosta; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Register of Hahira, and Darrell and Lydia Register of Hahira; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Register.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Register will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Clyde Stokes officiating. Interment will follow at Wayfare Cemetery, Echols County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
