Sammy Lloyd Reaves

Sammy Lloyd Reaves, 75, of Valdosta died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Hahira on September 1, 1940, son of the late Silas E. Reaves and Sarah Louelle Coppage Reaves Mickler, he was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Reaves attended the Morningside Baptist Church and pastored the Clyattville First Baptist Church for seven years. He proudly served in the United States Marines for four years and was retired from Joseph's Produce. He graduated from Valdosta High School and sang gospel music for many years, volunteered with the Boys Club and the Valdosta High Band Boosters. Mr. Reaves enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Reaves; daughter and son in law, Deborah and Jim Rehberg; his son, Christopher Reaves; granddaughters, Laura (Trey) Webb, Tara Smith all of Valdosta, Alexis Reaves of Vidalia; brother and sister in law, Joe and Pat Reaves of Valdosta, sister, Sylvia Sprenkle Amert of Pinetta, FL, brother and sister in law, Stanley and Sandi Reaves of Hiawassee, GA, sister, Barbara Smith of Tifton; sister in law, Linda Reaves Harris and John Harris of Valdosta; brother in law and sister in law, Walter and Lana Wilson of Valdosta, brother in law, Larry Wilson of Hahira; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Reaves and his stepfather, Bill Mickler.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, March 18, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery.
