Sam F. Webb, Jr.

Sam F. Webb, Jr., age 66, a life long resident of Valdosta, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at his home after a long illness. He was born June 17, 1943 to the late Lois and Sam Webb. Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his brother, Ken Webb.

A 1961 graduate of Valdosta High School, Mr. Webb went on to graduate from Valdosta State College in 1965. He served with the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Webb retired from the C & S Bank in Valdosta. He then became a substitute teacher in the Lowndes County School system where he strived to make a difference in the lives of young people. Mr. Webb was a long time member and Deacon of Central Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Janet Thompson Webb, his 3 daughters and their husbands, Kenna and Skip Wiles of Albany, Laurie and Barry Broome, Sammiann and Jay Haskin of Valdosta; a sister-in-law, Sandy Webb of Valdosta; grandchildren, Colton Broome, Trent Broome and Suzanna Broome, of Valdosta, Will Wiles of Albany, Kylie Haskin and Haley Haskin of Valdosta; mother-in-law, Ouida T. Everson of Albany, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law; Lamar Thompson of Albany, Don Thompson of Cordele, Shirley Rogers of Albany; 3 cousins, Tim Webb of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Danny Borum of Ellaville and Gwen Adams of Donalsonville.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Bryan Jarvis, Mr. John Klimko and Mr. J.C. McMullen will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Donations may be made to Raintree Village, 3757 Johnston Road, Valdosta, GA 3160.
