Sallie Elizabeth Chadwick Squires

August 15, 1959 — June 12, 2010

Sallie Elizabeth Chadwick Squires, 50, of Valdosta lost her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday morning, June 12, 2010 at South Georgia Medical Center. Sallie was born in Valdosta on August 15, 1959 to the late Guy and Edna Weeks Chadwick. She graduated from Valdosta High School and never missed a chance to encourage young people to stay in school and complete their education. Sallie accepted Jesus as he Lord and Savior at First Christian Church in Valdosta and was baptized by the Rev. Chris Michael. Sallie enjoyed helping out at St. Francis Thrift Shop where she was able to assist many people in need. She also enjoyed having the children and young people of the neighborhood in her home.

She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, David B. Squires of Valdosta; daughters, Dalie Squires, Rachel Squires and Hannah Squires of Valdosta, Angela Crosby (Jamie) of Quitman, Sara Squires of Valdosta, and Katrina Thompson (Jake) of Barney, GA; six grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Dr. Bill Dasher of Hahira, Helen and Herschel Blanton of Valdosta, and Gale and Joe Eunice of Clyattville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Claire Spriggs-Marrs (Harry) of Valdosta, Garey and Marie Wood of Valdosta, Andy and Bonnie Squires of Quitman, Ellen McCarthy of Valdosta and John and Lydia Keene also of Valdosta; her very special friends, Robert and Nancy McLeod and Barbara Coker of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews that were very special in her life, and she in theirs. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Danny Chadwick of Valdosta and an infant daughter, Faith Squires.

Services for Mrs. Squires will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Michael and Rev. John Akers officiating. The burial will follow in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
