S. Y. (Woody) Woodall

December 3, 1935 — October 26, 2019

S. Y. (Woody) Woodall, 83, of Valdosta died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Fellowship Home. He was born on December 3, 1935, in Walhalla, South Carolina to the late Lawrence and Lula Denny Woodall and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Woodall was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Woodall served as Director of the Evening Classes at Val-Tech and was involved in Distributive Education in Albany. Mr. Woodall attended University of Georgia, graduated from Piedmont College in South Carolina and received his Master’s Degree from Valdosta State University. He enjoyed playing golf and watching Georgia Football games.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Edwards Woodall; his son, Victor Woodall; his grandsons, Nicholas Woodall and Scott Woodall all of Valdosta; his sisters and brother in law, Katherine Cartee of Liberty, SC, Betty and William Hair of Columbia, SC; Denny Nielson of Darlington, SC; his brother, Michael Woodall of Columbia, SC; his nephews and nieces; Greg Cartee, Gary Cartee, Travis Cartee, Sherie Gaulin, Kim(Roy) James, Jonathan (Savannah) James, William James, Lawrence Woodall. He was preceded in death by a son, Bradley J. Woodall.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2pm, Friday, November 1, 2019 at Tallahassee National Cemetery in Tallahassee, Florida with Dr. Robby Foster officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Northside Baptist Church Building Our Legacy Fund, 200 E. Park Avenue, Valdosta, GA 31602.
