Ruth V. Williams, 96, of Valdosta died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Holly Hill Nursing Home. Born on October 26, 1911 in Bibb County, she was the daughter of James F. and Viola Drawhorne Hardy. She was the co-owner and operator of Joe’s Cleaners from 1932 until 1958 and she also served 20 years as a Pink Lady at South Georgia Medical Center.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Ann Dampier of Fayetteville, Emory and Sharon Dampier of Quitman, James Dampier of Albany; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren; sisters, Viva Evans of Valdosta and Helen Kilgore of Gray; brother and sister-in-law, James and Sarah Hardy of Macon and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Williams.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Reverend Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
