Ruth Spikes Atkins

Ruth Spikes Atkins, 74 of Hogansville, GA, died on Sunday, December 5, 2004. She had lived in Hogansville for six weeks and in Valdosta most of her life. Born on February 1, 1930 in Willacoochee, GA, she was the daughter of the Oren and Jessie Flanders Spikes and the widow of Felton Lamar Atkins. Mrs. Atkins was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are a daughter, Margaret Maine of Hogansville, GA; son, Randy Atkins (Debbie) of Hogansville, GA; sister, Pauline Joiner of Valdosta; grandchildren, Mike Tidwell of Valdosta, GA; Tina Rice of Tallahassee, FL, Steve Atkins of Valdosta, GA, Jimmy Tidwell of Valdosta, GA, Dwayne Tidwell of South Carolina; eight great grandchildren; and a special nephew, Freddie Crutchfield of Tavares, FL. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Lamar Atkins and Gary Tidwell.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
