Ruth Parker Bush

Ruth Parker Bush, 86, of Howell, GA went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Beverly, comforted by her children and loved ones. Mrs. Bush was born in Brooks County on September 26, 1929 to the late Joseph Brinson and Cora Alma Guess Parker. She was a loving Christian wife, mother, Mema, sister and dear friend to many. Mema cherished her family and her time spent loving and laughing with friends. She loved working in her flowers, cooking, especially baking cakes with her grandchildren, as well as travelling as much as possible with family and friends.
Mrs. Bush was a member of the North Valdosta Church of Christ.
At the age of 14 years old she worked at Kresses in Valdosta. She graduated from Pine Grove High School in 1946 as the class salutatorian. Mrs. Bush worked at Southern Bell, retiring with twenty five years from Bellsouth in Valdosta.
Survivors include her children, Beverly and Daryl Kinsey of Howell, GA, Gail B. Young of Valdosta, John L., III and Deborah Bush of Mulberry, FL, Luke H. Bush, Sr. of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Jennifer Kinsey of Seattle, WA, Brandi and Kevin Booth of Hahira, Chuck and Kelly Young of Hahira, Lee and Shalae Kinsey of Valdosta, Sara and Ty Sammons of Lakeland, FL, John D. and Sharon Bush of Lakeland, FL, Shannon and Joe Thompson of Lakeland, FL, Hali Bush, Kira Bush, Hunter Bush all of Hahira; her great grandchildren, Ansleigh Young, Dorian Sammons, L. J. Sammons, Graceigh Booth, Masie Kinsey, Jacob McKean, J. D. Bush, Mylee Kinsey, Zachary Bush, Hugheston Kinsey; her sisters and brothers in law, Evelyn Caldwell Brinson and Carl Brinson, Kathleen and Frank Culpepper all of Valdosta; her brothers and sisters in law, Jake and Dorothy Parker of Valdosta, James and Sylvia Parker of Hahira; sisters in law and brothers in law, Mary Parker of Valdosta, Rose Bush Rhymes of Pensacola, FL; brother in law, Clarence DeLoach of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews; her children-in-heart, Nate and Pat Hagood of Lewisburg, TN and their children, Brian, Priscilla and Lindsey Ruth; special friends, Hilda DeLoach Hubbard of Perry, GA and Orene Moseley of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Bush, Jr.; her mother in law, Lois Bush Parrott and father in law, John and Ann Bush, her grandchildren, Kerry and Derry Kinsey; her sisters and brother in law, Florene DeLoach, Inez and Jimmy Steedley; her brother, Elmer Parker and brothers in law and sister in law, L. D. Caldwell, James H. Rhymes, Sr. and Emmett and Lydia Bush. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the loving care provided by Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Page, Aryn Caldwell and the staff of Halcyon Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, June 26, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Nate Hagood, Mr. Marvin Greene and Mr. Jerry DeLoach officiating. A private entombment will be held at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
