RUTH (MOTHER RUTH) RAMPEY JOYCE DUEHRING, 96. of Valdosta died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House. She was born on August 30, 1911 in Lakeland, Georgia to the late William Cator and Addie Smith Rampey. Mrs. Duehring was a member of the Azalea City Church of God, the Eastern Star, a Shriner's widow and the Amaranzt. She enjoyed serving the Lord, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Mary Nell and Darrell Griffin of Crystal River, Fla., Maxine Chaney of Valdosta, 9-grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Quarterman Joyce and James Milton Duehring, a daughter, Virginia Douglas, son in law, Lon Chaney, Sr., grandson, Mike Griffin, a great grandson, William Lon Chaney, III, seven sisters, Allie Glenn Newman, Ruby McGill, Dora Fretwell, Willa Mae Weaver, Mattie Elmer Cook, Eunice Rampey and Anna Lee Rampey and three brothers, Wallace Rampey, Arthur Rampey and George M. Rampey.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Gabbard, Rev. Brett Jarriel and Pastor Maxie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11am until service time at the funeral home.
