Ruth Hardwick Davis, 87 of Valdosta since 1936, died on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at the Langdale Place. Born on August 13, 1918 in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late Jack Cleveland and Jimmie Wade Hardwick and the widow of William Taylor Davis who died in 1981. Mrs. Davis was Past Worthy Matron Order of Eastern Star Valdosta Chapter 244, a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a past member of Business and Professional Women. She was associated with Friedlanders for a number of years and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Survivors are one sister-in-law, Madavern C. Davis of Valdosta; one aunt, Corinne Hall of Jacksonville, FL and numerous nieces and nephews including, Carole Moses, Margie Nolan, Jackie Manucy, Avie Sue Roesch, Eddie Hagan, Thomas Alan Davis, Sr.; special friends, R. D. and Hilde Martin, Sandra, Brittany and Anna Marie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Scarbrough, Pastor of Senior Adults at Crossroads Baptist Church and Reverend Richard Hart, Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
