October 7, 1929 — April 6, 2010

Ruth H. Byrd, 80, of Barney our loving Christian Wife and Mother went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. She was born on October 7, 1929 in Nashville to the late Lee Roy and Louella McGee Harrelson. Mrs. Byrd was a member of the Morven Church of Christ and retired from Regions Bank. She was a member of the Garden Club and enjoyed making mayhaw jelly.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Lane Byrd of Barney, her daughter, Lynn Byrd of Cecil, Alabama, her sons, Phil Byrd of Montgomery, Alabama and Jerry Byrd of Freeport, Florida, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Dot Stewart of Valdosta and Betty Sue Williamson of Bainbridge, Georgia and a special friend, Sara Ann Jones of Barney. She was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Ogletree of Adel.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Friday, April 9, 2010 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral with Mr. Jerry Herring and Mr. Forrest Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Campground Cemetery outside of Morven on Highway 76. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
