Ruth Fountain Brady

Ruth Fountain Brady, 87, of Valdosta, died on Monday, September 28, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on July 3, 1922 in Olanta, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Lee and Effie Lee Harper. Mrs. Brady grew up in Olanta working to help support her family after her father's death and moved to Valdosta in the early 1940's. She worked for 25 years at Metal Products and for more than a decade at Valdosta Daily Times. Mrs. Brady loved her Lord and her church and loved working in her yard. Mrs. Brady loved life, and she opened her home and heart to her family and made everyone feel special and loved. She spent many years supporting and encouraging her daughter and her family. She was a collector and loved to collect items including angels and porcelain dolls. Mrs. Brady was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Roy Brady of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Faye and William Lee of Albany; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Connie Fountain of Old River-Winfree, TX; grandchildren, Dale Coffee of Athens, AL, Don Coffee and his wife, Marsha of Albany, David Jackson and his wife, Alicia of Valdosta, Thomas Fountain and his wife, Anna of DuPont, WA, Tabitha Alkahtib and her husband, Maher of Old River-Winfree, TX, Carrie Gagliano and her husband, Gary of Baytown, TX, Lonnie Dean of Baytown, TX; 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brady was preceded in death by several brothers and a daughter.

Services for Mrs. Brady will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 2, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
