Russell Wayne Clayton

Russell Wayne Clayton, 72, of Statenville, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta on August 5, 1947 to the late Ernie Gene Clayton and Loretta Colson Clayton. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a full-fledged cowboy and jokester. He enjoyed trail riding, farming, and spending time with family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Russell is survived by his son Andy Clayton, of Waco, TX; his grandchildren Samantha Clayton, and Megan Clayton, both of KY; brother Leslie (Luana) Clayton, of Jennings, FL; sister Vicki Bland, of Port Charlotte, FL; a very special friend Barbara Myers, of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joann Clayton, a brother Owen Clayton, a sister Sylvia Blas.
