Russell Clanton, 62, of Valdosta, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at his home. He was born March 25, 1951 in Adel, a son of the late James Edwin and Era Belle Hendley Clanton. Russell was a long-time diesel mechanic and a member of the Assembly of God.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Allen Stewart of Waycross; four grandchildren, Haley Loren, Jamie Loren, Sequoia Hart and Brooke Hudson; one great-grandson, Hunter Tyson Crews; two sisters, Robbie Nell Corey and husband Robert of Lake Park, and Sue Wilson of Lake Park; one brother, Lamar Clanton and wife Louise of Ellijay, GA; a special friend, Barbara Hudson of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Clanton.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Clanton will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Long Bridge Primitive Baptist Church, Nashville, with Pastor Aaron Clanton officiating. Interment will follow at Long Bridge Cemetery, Nashville. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta.
