Ruel G. Crumbley, Jr., 85, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on July 1, 1926 in Dade City, Florida to the late Ruel Sr. and Julia Golden Crumbley and has been a resident of this area since 1966. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII in the European Theater of Operation, specifically in the occupation of Cologne. He was retired from Bell South as a switchman and was a member of Bemiss Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Crumbley of Valdosta; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna C. Fitzgerald of Valdosta and Diane and Rick Kostuk of South Fork, Colorado; four grandchildren, Stacia Hedrick of South Fork, Colorado, Shane and Britney Hedrick of Conover, North Carolina, Somer Wadley and Shepherd Wadley both of Denver, Colorado; a great-grandchild, Kayley Hedrick of Conover, North Carolina; a sister, Marjorie C. Suydam of Branden, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
Services for Ruel G. Crumbley, Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Bemiss Road Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Edwards officiating. The entombment will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
