Rudolph Albert Thornton, 92, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021. He was born on September 13, 1928 in Lanier County, GA, to the late Harry Burns Thornton and Ada Williams Thornton. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he also owned and operated Thornton Drywall. He started Thornton Drywall in 1960, semi-retired in 1979, and fully retired in 2004 from Harry Thornton and Son Drywall. He also owned and operated Thornton Paving. He enjoyed NASCAR and loved racing. Rudolph adored gardening and a bowl of his favorite vanilla ice cream. He enjoyed fishing with his great grandchildren. He will be remembered by his family and his loving wife of 66 years, Annie Brunelle Thornton.
Rudolph is survived by his wife, Annie Brunelle Thornton, of Valdosta; his two sons, Harry (Tami) Thornton, of Valdosta, and Eddie Thornton, of Naylor; his two grandchildren, Byron Thornton, of Valdosta, and Amie (James) Flowers, of Hahira; his four great grandchildren, Emily-Grace Thornton, Beth-Anne Thornton, both of Valdosta, Maddie Flowers, and Jay Flowers, both of Hahira. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and five sisters.
A funeral service for Rudolph will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 3pm in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Buck Crumley officiating.
