Ruby Louise Powell

Ruby Louise Powell, age 94, from Adel, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024. She was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina on July 17, 1930, to Winslow Silvester Shuford and Sally Black Shuford. Ruby was a devoted Christian known for her love of gospel music and her deep connection to the Bible, having read it over 100 times. She found joy in tending to her garden, caring for animals, and embracing life to the fullest. Affectionately called “Maw Maw,” she was a spirited woman cherished by many.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Vickie Redding from Adel, GA, son-in-law Michael Redding, also from Adel, GA, grandson Matthew Mackenstein (Sami) from Des Moines, IA, grandson JonMichael Redding (Amy) of Valdosta, GA, daughter-in-law Mary Jane Hullett from Lincolnton, NC. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandson Scott Hullett (Diana) from Lincolnton, NC, grandson Kevin Hullett (Bonnie) from Davidson, NC, grandson Michael Hullett (Audra) from Blue Springs, MO, granddaughter April Orona (Jacob) from San Antonio, TX; as well as great-grandchildren: Allison Hullett and Nathan, Noah, and Aiden Orona from San Antonio, TX, Conner and Evan Hullett, Paislee and Kennedy Hullett, and Payton Hullett.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Baxter Powell, her son, Evan Hullett, Jr. and daughter, Kathy Fail.
