Ruby Mccoy Shiver

Ruby McCoy Shiver , 90, of Hahira died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Lake Park of Madison Nursing Center. She was born in Colquitt County on April 15, 1917 to the late James and Fannie Copeland McCoy and had lived in Brooks and Lowndes Counties most of her life. Mrs. Shiver was a member of the Hahira United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Hahira City Council.

Survivors include her daughter, Myra Valentine of Madison, Fla., son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Peggy Shiver of Valdosta, grandchildren, Ed and Joy Valentine of Mandeville, LA., Robbie and Teresa Valentine of St. Augustine, Fla., Ellis and Laura Shiver of Hahira, Bart and Amy Shiver, Todd and Kelly Shiver all of Valdosta, 11-great grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy McCoy Strickland of Alexandria, Ala., two sisters in law, Joyce McCoy of Dade City, Fla. and Barbara Smith Watson of Morven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin M. Shiver, son in law, Bob Valentine, sister, Chloe McCoy Hendry and brother, Hugh McCoy.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Hahira United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Morgan and Rev. John McGowan officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1pm until service time at the church fellowship hall.
