Ruby Lynette Clark

Ruby Lynette Clark, 85, of Hahira passed from this world on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Covenant Hospice Inpatient and Palliative Care Center of West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. Ruby was the youngest of eight children born on November 16, 1926 in Jesup, Georgia to the late Hansel Elijah and Katherine Horton Dukes. Her family moved to Eastman, Georgia where she graduated with honors from Eastman High School. After graduating she took a job as a Chemical Lab Tech working for a large company which manufactured naval store products in Baxley, Georgia and there she took on the responsibility which prior to her employment was done by three men. After a period of time Ruby moved back to Eastman and was hired by the Department of Defense at Warner Robins Air Force Base in support of the war effort and she worked in the capacity of Lab Tech. While working at Warner Robins Air Force Base she met Carl Wallace Clark and they married on Christmas Day 1951. They had three sons and made Hahira, Georgia area their home. In 2008 after the death of Carl, Sr., Ruby suffered a stroke and her oldest son, Carl, Jr. moved her to Pensacola, Florida where she lived in a nursing home until the time of her passing.

Survivors include her two sons, Carl Wallace Clark, Jr. and his wife, Dolly of Barrineau Park, Fla. and her youngest son, James Hancel Clark of Hollywood, Florida along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wallace Clark, Sr., her son, William L. Clark and her seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2011 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Pamela Avery, Senior Pastor of Lathram Chapel United Methodist Church in Barrineau Park, Florida officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.
