Ruby Lee Wetherington, 90, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Langdale Hospice House after a brief illness.
She was born April 12, 1925 in Colquitt County, a daughter of the late John Phillip and Texas Virginia Noles Whittle. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church, and had been a long time member of Grace Baptist Church. Mrs. Wetherington had retired as a Seamstress from Levi Strauss, and enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Brenda Wetherington of Valdosta; a grandson, Jonathon and wife Katie Wetherington of Lilburn; three great-granddaughters, Anabel, Abigail and Rachel Wetherington; one sister, Ida Williams of Conyers; a special nephew and his wife, Dwaynne and Frances Whittle of Valdosta; a special niece, Sheila Bennett of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hamp Wetherington; and three sisters, Flara Mae Clayton, Rosalyn Whittle and Myrtice Bennett.
The funeral service for Mrs. Wetherington will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Lewis Metts and Rev. Jack Seiverd officiating. Interment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
