Ruby Lee Campbell, 82, of Valdosta died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on June 12, 1931 in Tifton, GA to the late Amos and Ava Jordan Walker. Mrs. Campbell was retired after thirty nine years of service from Southern Bell, was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church, a member of NASAH, Hasan Shrine Club, a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers and a member of the Valdosta Lioness Club.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Cecelia Denise and Stephen Bacon of Cecil, her granddaughter, Catherine Williams (Jay) of Lake Park, her grandson, David McGehee and his fiancé, Maria Mundrick of Valdosta, three sisters and one brother in law, Ruth Murdock of Atlanta, Grace and Edward Butler and Mary Lee Harper of Brunswick and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Campbell is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Campbell, her father, Amos Walker, her mother, Ava Jordan Walker, her step mother (who raised her) Mary Conger Walker, four brothers, Barney Walker, Alton Walker, W. A. Walker and Edgar Walker and her sister, Dorothy Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Carrol Joye officiating. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
