Ruby LaRose Bass, 81, of Lake Park, died on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was born on September 14, 1938 in Lyons, Georgia to the late Vernon and Helen Stephens Webb. She was a graduate of Valdosta High School and business school. Mrs. Bass was a member of Forrest Street United Methodist Church and was retired from Hoosier RV and Transport in Elkhart, Indiana. She loved to paint, jewelry making, reading, all kinds of arts and crafts, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, and selling her son-in-law’s vegetables at the flea market.
She is survived by 5 daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and John Minor of Lake Park, Beth and Billy Herndon of Lake Park, Billie Jo and Rick Wisdom of Lebanon, Tennessee, Rosa Ann and Jeff Shirley of Baroda, Michigan, and Penny and Bronson Barth of Scottsburg, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 5 sisters, Helen, Lynda, Michelle, Bobbie, and Pamela; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar Bass, and her first husband and father of her children, Bill Sims, and one sister, Jo Anita.
A graveside service for Ruby LaRose Bass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Mr. Marvin Greene officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park, Georgia. Following the graveside service, the family invites those in attendance to join them at the Conference Center at the Eagle’s Roost RV Resort in Lake Park.
