Royce Eugene Oliver, Jr.

Royce Eugene Oliver, Jr., 81, of Valdosta passed away on February 20, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on November 19, 1936 in Middleboro, MA to the late Royce E. Oliver, Sr. and Maria Butkus Oliver. Mr. Oliver was a retired USAF Lt. Colonel, a Vietnam veteran, and the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He earned a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Utah. After his final assignment at Moody Air Force Base, he worked in administration at Valdosta State University. Mr. Oliver enjoyed golfing, working out at the YMCA, and eating out. He attended St. John Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda-Lyn & Ronald P. Jenkins of Cheyenne, WY; sons, Royce Oliver, III of Bethesda, MD, Billy Oliver of Medina, TN; grandchildren, Ronald J. Jenkins, Megan McSorley, Kristin Jenkins, Christopher Jenkins, Caitlin Jenkins; great grandchildren, Kayla McSorley, Alyssa McSorley, Emma Jenkins, Connor Jenkins; and sisters, Claudia Oliver and Barbara Clark. He is preceded by his wife, Lorraine Feeney Oliver.
Services for Mr. Oliver will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. A rosary will be held at 5 p.m. and family will receive friends until 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family requests in lieu of flowers to consider memorial donations to the Cancer Research Institute, 55 Broadway Suite 1802, New York, New York 1006 or St. John Catholic Church.
