Roy N. Mcquaig, Sr.

Roy Newton McQuaig, Sr., 80, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, November 04, 2015, at Fellowship Home. Born on July 27, 1935 in Dupont, Georgia he was the son of the late Baxley and Thelma Strickland McQuaig. Mr. McQuaig was employed in banking and had most recently worked in collections at Colony Bank. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia Smith McQuaig of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy, Jr. (Mac) and Marjorie McQuaig of Valdosta, Doug and Derrith McQuaig of Valdosta; grandchildren, Roy N. "Trey" McQuaig III, Taylor McQuaig, Niles McQuaig, Spencer McQuaig and Claire McQuaig; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Riggs, and brothers, Baxley McQuaig, Jr. and Fred McQuaig.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Gary Bagley will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Break Bread Together at 313 N.
