Roy N. “Mac” McQuaig, 65, of Valdosta, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Born in Valdosta to the late Roy N. McQuaig, Sr. and Virginia Smith McQuaig, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. Growing up here in Valdosta, he attended Valdosta City Schools and graduated from VHS in 1977. He played baseball for the Wildcats Baseball Team and was known as “The Butcher” for his aggressive pitching style. Soon after high school, he worked for several years in management at several Harvey’s Supermarkets located in Valdosta, Cordele and Dawson. He then took a job with Pepsi Cola where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 2017. Mac loved golf and was an avid golfer playing at Stone Creek for many years. He also loved fishing and was an active member of the Valdosta Bass Busters for years as well. Mac was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Niles McQuaig of Valdosta and Roy III “Trey” & Kayla McQuaig of Orange County, CA, and one grandchild on the way, Ainsley Mae McQuaig. Also surviving is a brother and sister in law, Doug & Derrith McQuaig of Valdosta, several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend, Susan Pollock.
