Roy Lennis Bennett

Roy Lennis Bennett, 67, of Valdosta died suddenly Saturday, September 20, 2008. Born on September 21, 1940 in Adel, he was the son of the late Benjamin Roy and Myrtice Whittle Bennett. Mr. Bennett was an over the road truck driver for 50 years and was currently employed with 5 State Trucking Company. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Myrtle Ann (Pape) Bennett of Valdosta; his children and their spouses, Rodger and Robin Bennett of Lake Park, Tina Bennett and Glen Moore, Robbie and Tony Reynolds, Danny Bennett, Tyrone Bennett, all of Valdosta, Rhonda and Brian Walker of Hahira; grandchildren, Josh, Bree and Amber Bennett of Lake Park, Crystal and Kristina Moore, Angel, Toni and T.J. Reynolds all of Valdosta, Chad Bang of Mississippi, Kaira and Grant Walker of Hahira. Mr. Bennett is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, J.L. and Barbara Bennett of Lake Park; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Flurry of New York, Martha Ward and Joan Legette both of Valdosta, Sheila and Russell Dorminey of Valdosta; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, LaRue Bennett and sister, Phyllis Friesen.

Services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
