Roy L. Anderson

Roy L. Anderson, 78, of Lake Park, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at his home. He was born in Douglas, GA on September 2, 1943 to the late James Avery Anderson and Margaret Henrietta Alexander Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a retired FedEx driver of 18 years. He loved to travel, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Mr. Anderson was a college football fan, especially of the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, and a member of Bethel Church of God.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Anderson, of Lake Park; his daughter Karen (Steven) Schmidt, of Lake Park; daughter-in-law, Theresa Anderson, of Lake Park; granddaughters, Kayla Schmidt, and Amanda (Kyle) Mullinax; his great grandchildren, Kaeli Hammack, Bentley Knutsen, Brody Schmidt, Harper Mullinax, and Marlie Mullinax; special niece and nephews, Kiley (Patrick) Loveless, Brandon Thompson, and Jerry (Stephanie) Langford; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his son Roy Wayne Anderson, his parents, two brothers, James (Twyla) Anderson and Lamar (Faye) Anderson, and a sister Jane Langford.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Bethel Church of God in Echols County with Reverend Daryl Pate officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
