Ronald Phelps

Ronald Phelps, 79, of Valdosta, passed away at his home on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was born on October 1, 1944, in Lakeland, Florida to the late Donald and Pauline Courson Phelps. Ronald loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking, listening to music, and fishing. Mr. Phelps worked for Levi Strauss as a mechanic for many years and graduated from Valdosta Technical College.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Valdosta; daughters, Paula (David) Carlson of Troy, Alabama, Tracy (Frank) Ryan of Hahira, Georgia; step-son Philip (Katherine) Brown of Jefferson, GA, sisters Brenda (Edward) Cannington of Valdosta, GA, Beverly Phelps of DuPont, GA; grandchildren Nicole Carlson, Emily Carlson of Troy, AL, Jake Ryan of Hahira, GA; Landon Brown, Owen Brown, Lincoln Brown, and Annabelle Brown all of Jefferson, GA; sisters-in-law Karla Phelps of Lake Park, GA, Patsy (Wayne) Lane of Quitman, GA; Cecilia Jarrard of Valdosta, GA; Selena (Jim) Moore of Dawsonville, GA; Sharon (Charlie) Borg of Canton, GA; brother-in-law Chris Jarrard of St. Pete Beach, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Phelps was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Melvin Phelps, Jimmy Phelps, Timothy Phelps, Michael Phelps, and Daniel Phelps; and grandson Michael Carlson.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday January 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Ms. Emily Carlson, Mr. Jake Ryan, and Dr. Philip Brown will lead the service. McLane Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the Phelps family.
