Ronald Cowart

Ronald Cowart, 74, of Hahira passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on August 9, 1946 in Lowndes County to the late Ulmer L. and Jewell T. Cowart. Ronald was owner and operator of Cowart Electric. He was a member of New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on the cemetery committee. Ronald was an avid big game hunter and traveler. He loved his family and cared for the church and cemetery. Ronald graduated from Hahira High School in 1964.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Jo Beth Hayes Cowart, son, Thomas Ulmer Cowart (Tommy) and a very special great nephew, Reed King, sister and brother-in-law, Gwen Cowart Couch and Steve Couch, two brothers in law and sister-in-law, Donald Hayes and Robert and Julie Taylor, numerous nieces and nephews. Ronald is predeceased by his son, Ronald Gerald Cowart, Jr. (Ronnie), parents, Ulmer and Jewell Thompson Cowart, brothers and sister-in-law, Rhudolph C. and Robbie Ray Cowart, Aubrey L. Cowart and Kenneth U. Cowart, sister, Mary Helen Cowart Flynt and husband, Richard Flynt, mother-in-law, Gladys Kelley Taylor and father-in-law, Thomas Hayes.

Due to the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the protection of those involved a register book will be provided to sign and a time to honor Ronald will take place between eleven a. m. and one thirty p. m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church. The family will not be present. A graveside funeral service will be held at two p. m. at his family plot in the cemetery with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. The family will speak to friends after the service. Please follow social distancing guidelines also at this time in respect to the family. Wearing a mask is requested.
