Roger Lynn Barnard

November 19, 1949 — September 17, 2024

Panama City, FL

It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Lynn Barnard announces his passing on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Panama City, FL surrounded by those who loved him most.

Roger will be fondly remembered by his friends and loved ones.

He was born in Hahira, GA on November 19, 1949 to the late Andrew Jackson Barnard and Eula Mae Hendley. His parents and six siblings grew up in Valdosta, GA where he attended Lowndes County High School. He met Darlene Callahan and they soon married. They later had three daughters, Dana Lynn, Patricia Earlene (deceased), and Shona Gail.

Roger was in the convenience store business the majority of his life. He was the manager of the Holiday Market by the age of 19 where he later became supervisor of 13 stores. Upon the request of his brother Danny, he moved his wife and two daughters to Donalsonville, GA in 1980 to help operate his convenience store business.

He was also a skilled carpenter. There was nothing he could not repair, take apart and put back together or build. He anonymously gave to many in his community, as his heart would let no one go without.

Roger and Darlene later moved to Panama City Beach in 2007 where they helped open and operate his oldest daughter’s preschool. Although he had retired many years prior, his helping hands never quit till the very end.

Left to cherish his wonderful memories are his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda Darlene Callahan Barnard; daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Fisher (Randall) and Shona Reynolds (Barry); grandchildren, Kadem Barrett Reynolds, Johni Lynn Reynolds, Jalyn Darlene Reynolds, and Maximilian Gorham Fisher; great-grandchildren, Gordon Wayne and Haisley Lynn; and many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Jackson Barnard; mother Eula Mae Hendley; his precious daughter, Patricia Earlene; his two beautiful sisters, Sandra Gail and Patricia Diane; his brothers, Russel Wayne, Daniel Andrew, Ronald Eugene & Gary Jackson.

His Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 16, 2024 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11am. A procession will follow the service to Webb Hendley Cemetery in Nashville, GA.

Roger’s faith in the Lord our savior was unwavering. Psalm 73:26: "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever"
