Rodney True Nebel, 59, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, following a year long struggle with cancer. Born in Jefferson City, MO to Dixie Cutler Nebel and the late Emil Harman Nebel, where he attended Jefferson City Public Schools. He graduated from Drury College in Springfield, MO and graduated from Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro. Formerly of Statesboro, he had lived in this area for the past 2 years. Mr. Nebel was a member of Rotary International, having become a Paul Harris Fellow and a Will Watt Fellow, and was a Mason in the Moody Lodge of Valdosta. Mr. Nebel was most recently an Information Technologist with the Georgia Department of Human Resources and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Valdosta.
Survivors include his four daughters and a son-in-law, Julie & Jeremiah Johnson, of Newnan, Katie Nebel, Susan Nebel & Sarah Nebel, all of Valdosta; his mother, Dixie Nebel of Pleasanton, CA; and a brother Larry Nebel, of Pleasanton, CA. He is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Forrest Nebel.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Nebel at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007, at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Perry Zeigler will officiate. Burial of the cremains will follow at a later date in Missouri. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday.
