Robert Owens (Bob) DeCesare, Sr., 64 of Valdosta died Friday, September 3, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center from non-related COVID-19 issues. He was born in Valdosta on July 14, 1957 to the late James J. DeCesare Sr. and Alwilda Rogers DeCesare and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Bob was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church and a 1976 graduate of Valdosta High School. He owned and operated many restaurants in this area. After retirement he began working with Crown Produce. Bob loved Valdosta and Georgia Football. He was a kind, loving, selfless man who loved his family , especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Belflower DeCesare of Valdosta; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Owens (Bobby) and Amanda DeCesare, Blake and Emily DeCesare all of Valdosta, Colby Belflower DeCesare of Athens, GA; his grandchildren, Reese DeCesare, Dominick DeCesare, Olivia DeCesare, Adelynn DeCesare, Parker DeCesare; his siblings and their spouses, Peggy Swigart of Severna Park, MD, Michael and Belinda DeCesare, Lisa and Lane Wiggins all of Americus; his mother-in-law, Joan Belflower Scoggins and Jack Scoggins of Valdosta; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Sherie Belflower of Ray City, GA, Russ and Melissa Belflower of Dahlonega, GA, Chad and Lori Belflower of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James J. DeCesare, Jr., Roger DeCesare, his brother-in-law, Lee Swigart and his father-in-law, John Belflower.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Monday, September 13, 2021 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Jamie Bone officiating. Entombment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 5-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
