Robert Leon Barlow, 83, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born on July 20, 1938, in Fulton, Pennsylvania to the late Harvey Franklin and Anna Mae Troxell Barlow. Mr. Barlow was retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He served as a supply fuels superintendent. Upon retirement, he went to work with ITT in Colorado Springs, Colorado with automated jet fuels systems. He had worked locally for Miller Hardware and enjoyed watching sporting events and was an ardent Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Barlow was also a ham radio enthusiast and was a member of Evangel Assembly of God.
Mr. Barlow is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Barlow of Valdosta; his three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marvin and Patricia Barlow of Panama City, Florida, Scott Barlow of Valdosta, and Bobby and Connie Barlow of Commerce, Georgia; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Rita Barlow of Roanoke, Virginia, and Ted and Joyce Barlow of Stanton, Virginia; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ike Collins of Stanton, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Marty Leon Barlow; his grandson, Adam, and his great-granddaughter, Addison Johnson; his brothers, Mitton Barlow, Carlton Barlow, David Barlow, Frank Barlow, Fred Barlow, and Marvin Barlow.
Services for Robert Leon Barlow will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Franklin Walden, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will follow the service in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
