ROBERT LEE TOWNS, SR., 75, of Valdosta died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lake City after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 29, 1930 in Scotland, Georgia to the late William Tatum and Nora Bass Towns and had lived in Valdosta since 1978. Mr. Towns was a retired Ordinanceman First Class with the United States Navy and a member of the Pleasant Church of Christ.<br><br>Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Turner of Jacksonville, Fla., two sons, Robert Lee Towns, Jr. of Denmark and Larry Towns of Adel, six grandchildren, Tamara Berry of Memphis, TN., Michael Towns of Little Rock, Ark., Alex P. Towns of Denmark, Jacqueline Stephens, Dennis Turner and Michele Turner all of Jacksonville, Fla., four great grandchildren, Steven Towns, Gayle Towns both of Little Rock, Ark., Alexis Stephens and Brandon Turner both of Jacksonville, Fla.<br><br>Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, March 9, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery in Echols County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10am until service time.
