Robert Lamar Sutton

Robert Lamar Sutton, 56, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on September 26, 1952 in Valdosta to the late E. J. and Yvonne Allen Sutton. Mr. Sutton was a longtime employee of Georgia Power, a longtime member of Spain Ferry Hunting Club and he loved fishing. Mr. Sutton served as a sergeant in the Georgia National Guard.

He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Sutton and significant other, Sara Baggett of Atlanta, Jo Sutton and significant other, Brittany Henderson, one grandson, Zachary Henderson, two sisters and brothers in law, Karen and Ronnie Smith, Leigh and Rick Amiot, one brother, Steve "Doc" Sutton, beloved aunt, Earlene Allen, three nephews, Josh Smith, Thom Amiot and David Amiot, all of Valdosta and several cousins. Mr. Sutton is preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Mikey Smith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at four p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, 1411 Harbin Circle, Valdosta, GA 31601.
