Robert Joss, 80 of Statenville, died on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Cleveland, OH to the late Omar & Ruth Kilbury Joss. Formerly of Cleveland, OH, Mr. Joss retired from Cuyahoga County having worked there for many years as an inspector of roads and bridges, he has lived in this area since 1995. He spent a lot of time reading, watching football, especially the Cleveland Browns, and he loved fishing with his son and grandson.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Eric & Marsha Joss, of St. Charles, IL; three daughters and two sons in law, Sharon Menke, of Battleground WA, Ann & George Peterson of Lake Park, and Donna & Joe Lawrence of Americus; son and daughter in law, David & Dee Greene of Lake Park and a sister and brother in law, Jean & Ed Wood of Medina OH. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his mother in law, Ruth Eason, of Selma, NC; a sister in law, Jean Dale of Selma, NC and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his wife Margie Joss and a daughter, Debbie Simmons.
A funeral service for Mr. Joss will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park. Dr. Keith Sandlin will officiate. Burial of the cremains will follow at a later time at Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time on Sunday. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, 1411 Harbin Cir. Valdosta, GA 31601.
