Robert John (Bob) Maturi, 91, of Valdosta died Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born December 20, 1921 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Anthony and Jennie Segni Maturi and had lived in Valdosta since 1964. Mr. Maturi was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. Mr. Maturi was a retired sales executive with Colonial Bag Company. He deeply loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Maturi enjoyed his work for the church, cooking, gardening and the beach. He loved life to the fullest and enjoyed each day.
Survivors include the love of his life for 59 years, Maureen Maturi of Valdosta, three daughters and sons in law, Karen and Ralph DeLoach of Lawrenceville, Pam and Danny Carter of Albany, Janine and Andy Pendleton of Valdosta, five grandchildren, Trip DeLoach of Lawrenceville, Jennifer DeLoach of Rome, GA, Abbey Carter of Albany, John Pendleton, Marylee Pendleton both of Valdosta, two great grandchildren, Emily DeLoach and Christopher DeLaoch, his brothers and sisters in law, Anthony and Lucene Maturi, Susan and Jim Masiak all of Michigan, Richard Maturi of Seattle, WA, Rita Maturi of Alexandria, VA, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their appreciation to Mr. Maturi's caregivers for their love and support during his illness, Joreatha Melvin, Rosheta Jones, Lisa Pough-Wilson, Valerie Mitchell, Raphael Holly, Demetries Jones, Tara Jackson and Hospice of South Georgia.
Funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 12:10 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic with Father Dan O'Connell officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. A rosary service will be held on Sunday at 4:15 p.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 6pm.
